NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Old
Orchard Beach, Maine: They say if you want the real scoop, ask a local.
Well the locals have spoken once again, and Maine’s Best Beach is Old
Orchard Beach. In the Maine Sunday Telegram’s 2009 Readers’ Poll, Old
Orchard Beach was named “best beach.” The Annual readers’ poll, now in
its 23rd year, is a polling of Maine readers, and Old Orchard Beach is a
perennial favorite having won this category year after year. Here are the comments that accompanied the announcement in the March 29, 2009 Annual Audience Reader Poll; “Old Orchard has miles of white sand, a dramatic pier sticking out into the ocean, and tons of shops and old-fashioned seaside amusements.” Old Orchard Beach is a seven-mile strand of beach, with a historic Pier as the landmark centerpiece, and the last remaining seaside amusement park, Palace Playland, at the center. Beach comers can also find secluded spots on the beach by strolling a mile north or south of the popular Pier area. For over two centuries, Old Orchard Beach has been a popular vacation destination for tourists and locals alike because of its scenic beauty and its classic seaside resort atmosphere. “We are so pleased to continue to be chosen by Maine residents in this readers’ poll as Maine’s Best Beach,” commented James Harmon, Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “We never get tired of winning this category; it’s a reminder to us of how special our beach and resort community is.” For more information on Old Orchard Beach, you can visit the Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center located on First Street in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, 207-934-2500 or visit on the web at www.oldorchardbeachmaine.com. ### Things To Do | Events | Year Round Fun | Area Drives | Members | Contact Us |
